Conference of Directors of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions (LKDK) held a strategic roundtable with the Lithuanian Council of Sciences to discuss strengthening the quality of science and arts activities within colleges. This significant dialogue brought together key stakeholders to explore how collaboration can drive improvements in scientific and artistic initiatives across the sector.
The LKDK emphasized the need for a unified national approach to advancing scientific and artistic contributions, stressing that active institutional engagement and long-term cooperation will be essential. As colleges prepare for the 2028 international peer review of applied research, development (R&D), and artistic activities, these discussions highlighted both the sector’s aspirations and the challenges it faces in balancing ambitious objectives with existing resources and infrastructure.
One focal point of the meeting was the role of the Lithuanian Science Council in supporting colleges’ efforts to enhance their scientific and artistic endeavors. The Council’s cooperation is seen as pivotal to strengthening the sector’s long-term impact and prestige. In recent evaluations, the Council has assessed a variety of college-led projects, including R&D and artistic works—marking the second year for project-based reviews, the fourth year for scientific evaluations, and, notably, the first year for evaluating artistic works.
Through ongoing collaboration and aligned national efforts, both the CDL and the Lithuanian Council of Sciences are committed to enhancing the quality and recognition of college-driven scientific and artistic contributions in Lithuania.
