The plan to strengthen Lithuanian higher education institutions by reorganizing regional universities of applied sciences has reached its next stage. As of 1 October, the next step in the process will begin. Marijampolė University of Applied Sciences and Lithuanian Maritime Higher School have become structural units of universities.
Marijampolė University of Applied Sciences joined Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and will be called MRU Sūduva Academy. The changes are expected to ensure a higher quality of studies and allow the development of new research and study programs in the region. In addition, the Academy will be housed in new, modern premises in the center of Marijampolė, which will contribute to the modernization of the study infrastructure.
The Lithuanian Maritime Higher School has become the Lithuanian Maritime Academy, joining VILNIUS TECH University. The move is expected to strengthen the training of maritime engineering and renewable energy specialists, including training for offshore wind and fleet professionals.
