On 12 June, the General Assembly of the Conference of Directors of Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions (LKDK) was held at Klaipėdos valstybinė kolegija Higher Education Institution (KVK), bringing together college leaders and social partners to discuss key issues affecting Lithuania’s higher education sector.
During the meeting, participants received and discussed the latest updates from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions Association for Organizing Joint Admission (LAMA BPO), and the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior. Particular attention was given to the admission of international students, migration control, and the organisation of the national joint admissions process.
Participants also addressed civil protection and emergency preparedness in higher education institutions, including readiness for air raid alerts. Discussions covered LKDK’s international activities, including preparations to host the 2027 EURASHE Annual Conference in Lithuania and the organisation’s planned participation in the OpenCosmos platform.
The Assembly also considered several important academic matters. Members approved the list of competitive school subjects by study field for applicants to professional higher education programmes from 2029, discussed the implementation of professional master’s degree programmes, and adopted LKDK’s position on the draft Guidelines for the Development, Assessment and Recognition of Higher Education Teachers’ Didactic Competences. Participants also reviewed recent developments related to the adult learning platform Kursuok.lt and discussed other current issues relevant to the professional higher education sector.
During the second part of the meeting, the activities of the Study Committee, Scientific Applied Activities Committee, International Relations Committee, Economics Committee, and Sports Committee were presented and reviewed, followed by discussions on other organisational matters.
Following the official agenda, participants joined a guided tour of Klaipėdos valstybinė kolegija Higher Education Institution (KVK), where they explored the institution’s infrastructure and learning environment.
