On 13 January, Kauno kolegija hosted a meeting of the Sports Committee of the Lithuanian Colleges Directors’ Conference (LKDK), bringing together heads of college sports centres and coaches. The event was also attended by Indrė Čelkienė, President of the Lithuanian Student Sports Association, and LKDK Secretary Mantas Simanavičius.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the results of last year’s student sports games, celebrated successfully implemented innovations, the growing visibility of events, and effective sponsorship engagement. It was highlighted that a historic step was taken by organising live broadcasts of competitions on the YouTube platform for the first time.
In the games organised by the LKDK Sports Committee, students competed in various sports – from team events such as basketball, volleyball, and football to individual disciplines including athletics, table tennis, the cross-country cup, and kettlebell lifting.
After summing up the results of all events, Vilniaus kolegija scored the highest number of points in the women’s category (235 points), followed by Kauno kolegija in second place (207 points) and Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija in third place (198 points). In the men’s standings, athletes from Vilniaus kolegija also took first place (255 points), narrowly ahead of Kauno kolegija (252 points), while Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija secured third place (226 points).
Winners and prize-winners of the 25th Lithuanian College Student Sports Games were awarded trophies and medals, and all participating colleges received commemorative appreciation statuettes. The awards were presented by Dr Andrius Brusokas, Director of Kauno kolegija.
Congratulations to the winners, and we are pleased that students have the opportunity not only to test themselves in various sports but also to compete with peers from other colleges. We wish them continued success, activity, and sporting spirit!
